Hardware tinkering.

Hands-on repair and maintenance outside my main software work — diagnosing issues, opening devices, and putting them back together.

PlayStation 4

PS4 repair & maintenance

PS4 opened for inspection
PS4 internal components
PS4 optical drive area
PS4 motherboard during cleaning
PS4 thermal paste application
Reassembled PS4 console

Debugged a PS4 with a stuck optical drive — discs would not eject. Traced it to a hardware fault in the drive mechanism, repaired the assembly, and restored normal eject behavior.

Also did a full teardown: cleaned dust from the heatsink and fans, removed old thermal paste, applied fresh paste on the APU, and reassembled the console.

Laptop

Laptop repair & screen swap

Laptop opened for internal cleaning
Laptop internals during maintenance
LCD panel removed from laptop
Technical hardware competition award

Disassembled a laptop for deep cleaning — removed the back panel, cleared dust from the cooling path, and reassembled without damaging connectors or ribbon cables.

Swapped a faulty LCD by sourcing a compatible panel from another laptop, aligning the bezel, and testing the display after install. Also competed in a technical hardware event and placed in the competition (photo above).
